Sponsored by the Department of State, The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) hosts international visitors from all over the world who are middle-ranked, “up-and-comers” in their various areas of expertise.  They come to the U.S. and spend about 3 weeks in 4 or 5 different cities in order to meet with people in similar avocations and experts in their field living in the U.S. while also absorbing some of the culture and getting to know and understand the American people.Their program is arranged by Cultural Vistas. The Department of State has outlined the following specific objectives for the project:

 Learn about U.S. programs to counter radical ideologies, including the relationship

between federal, state, and local programs;

 Meet with leading technology and communications companies, community organizations

and think tanks implementing programs to counter violent extremism and strengthen

community engagement and communication activities;

 Explore case studies of successful traditional and social media campaigns with a focus to

promote tolerance and build strong community resistance to violent extremism;

 Examine best practices and new measures taken by the U.S. and discuss opportunities to

enhance international cooperation;

 Examine U.S. efforts to confront ISIL through cutting-off access to financing, halting the

flow of foreign fighters, providing humanitarian assistance, and countering cyber

terrorism
